His wife, Kathy, has remained by his side through six months of surgeries and rehabilitation at Craig Hospital in Denver, Colo., and now as they struggle to learn a new, and drastically different life together back home in Las Vegas. Navigating an unknown world of worker's compensation claims, temporary housing, and constant medical needs, Tom and Kathy are dealing with their new reality very differently. The strains are taking a toll on their marriage, and Kathy, as she balances returning to work as a second-grade teacher and being a partner and care-giver to Tom.
